Re: Cat breeding and working

Hi - as others have said you can work fulltime and breed (we do). It does help that my other half works shifts and we plan our leave carefully. We also have a good support network who can step in and help at very short notice. So long as you plan ahead and are sensible there shouldn't be an issue.

Try to get a mentor to help you and make sure you know what paperwork etc you should get/have with your breeding girl and whether or not you have any restrictions.

Hope it works out for you.

Re: Cat breeding and working

I have 2 Siamese breeding queens who have 1 litter a year. I do work part-time and book my annual leave around the births. While I do think you can do both dont forget the things you cant do, such as go on holiday and have a full nights sleep

Re: Cat breeding and working

I managed quite well for the years I was breeding and working full-time as well... with no support apart from friends/mentors at the end of a phone. The main problem was making sure the kittens had enough meals once they were weaned, but that was solved using the battery-operated timed feeders that had just come on the market. I gave them a meal at breakfast time, then set the feeders for two meals during the day, fed them immediately after coming in from work, and another just before I went to bed.

Mum was also left with plenty of dry food to snack on during the day. It was hard work though!

Re: Cat breeding and working

Hi
I dont work, but I know friends that do work and cat breed also and they seem to manage fine. Although as someone mentioned if there is a problem it can be tough I would imagine.

I breed Siberians which are quite a rare breed in the UK at the moment.
