Pink Slips

Hi

Does anyone know if you can remove overstamping off the Registration Certificate, such as "may carry the LH gene"?

Re: Pink Slips

I would assume only if you can prove though DNA testing that she /he doesn't carry the LH gene.

Re: Pink Slips

I was told by another breeder who sold a kitten with this overstamping that it was older than 5 generations and that eventually it wont be present on the pink slip. Is this incorrect?

Re: Pink Slips

Long hair gene is recessive. If you can DNA test thats an option. The old way used to mate to a longhair and see if any long hair kittens result, if they don't in x no of kittens/litters (I can not remember what it is) then I think you can apply to have that overstamping removed.

Re: Pink Slips

As a siamese breeder yourself, would it concern you to have this comment on a pink slip for future litters? Also, if the overstamping mentioned silver.

Re: Pink Slips

I think that overstamping is on a lot of oris, if I remember rightly they used chinnies to introduce the silver, but that could be wrong. One of my ori queens is overstamped for longhair, and its never worried me.

I have a couple of neuters overstamped for longhair and silver, but the silver is silly, seeing as its a dominant gene and can not be carried.

As long as the kittens appear on the CSSR register then it really makes no difference as far as I can see. If you research the ped back you may find it. Behind my girl the first OLH I can find is back in 70s, yet she is still overstamped.

Re: Pink Slips

If you want to research the pedigree back, see how far back the longhair or silver is try Ardeleana- Database Search Page You have to email the owner for a username and password now, if you try a search it takes you to the register page, he is quite quick at emailing back confirmation.

Experimental prefixes to look for way back are Southwiew, Kernow, Solitaire You will probably be surprised what you find back there Interesting stuff though

Re: Pink Slips

What amuses me is with my silver tiffanies, they go down as "silver in pedigree and may carry longhair"

Re: Pink Slips

The overstamping only says "silver in pedigree".

The reason for the overstamping is that silver can be rather difficult to identify in certain colours (dilutes or red) and may not be picked up - you could then get silver/smoke appearing generations further down from an apparently impossible combination of parents.

Re: Pink Slips

You get over stamping for "may carry longhair" and "may carry recessive white" - seen both of those.
