Belle has had 6 kittens on the bed ,HELP

Belle the blue point siamese 15 months old has had 6 lovely kits on the bed we made a lovely birthing box, bought a low wattage heated mat and have been tempting her with lots of strokes and cuddles to sleep in the box over the last two weeks. However she jumped onto the bed and started labour straight away, 3and a half later they all seem healthy, at the moment anyway.
We left her for 3 hours and then tried to put them in her box , she hit the roof and went ballistic, she grabbed them roughly and tried taking them back, the more we tried not to let her, the more agitated and noisy she became, so we gave in and they are back on the bed. then she left them for a short while came in and swore and shouted at us very very loud and her back hairs were slighly up since this she has acted very strange she comes in and demands the missus comes back with her and only settles when she is next to belle
We live above a shop and have 1 bedroom 1 kitchen 1 livingroom and have no idea what to do next we think for a day or two we might have to sleep on the floor or the missus might stay with them but I roll around in my sleep so maybe its the floor for me and the missus will sleep with the cat family
is there any way we can get them into their box as this will not be able to go on for months

They really wont be safe on the bed,i use a large indoor rabbit cage and put mum and kitts in this,i then can shut the top door, and just let mum in and out when she needs, this gives her time to settle, then i leave the door open all the while
just looked at your box, only thing i would have changed is to make a step up to the door hole so kitts cant escape!

I had a Burmese like this, they are a real pain when they get this into their heads. I just vacated the bed for a couple of days, it was easiest.

Well we have dragged a mattress down from the atic the door has a sliding part not atached in the photo to stop them getting out
She is suckling them and cleaning them but still demands one of us to be with her if not she kicks off and comes leaves them and shouts again this is the only time we will have kits never never again we only did it to give her one litter and keep a companion for her
I have never seen new born kittens they look like rats to me there seems 4 very white and two slightly darker the mother is blue point and daddy is a lilac point she sleepps normally on the bedding box at the end of the bed but now she is were the pillows would be in the worst possible place we are going to put pillows arond them to secure them
We have two cages but there is no way she would be happy in one I think we have spoilt her and now she thinks she is te boss this will change but only after a couple of days

Re: Belle has had 6 kittens on the bed ,HELP

She owns the bed now its hers I am on the floor and they are in nest of 4 cushions and the missus has the rest belle was a little weird yesterday on a razor edge mad and very angry but today she is getting a little more used to her kittens she spends more than half her tmie with the kits and the rest with us
She no longer needs her mum (the missus) with her all the time and she has learnt to pick one out aand clean it so far there is no runt just 6 little kits all white although 2 are a little darker and I am wondering if these are blue point and the rest are lilac point but its maybe too early to tell
they were lying on the bed before one lying one way, the other opposite way and then all the way down head and then tail all crampted up together I wanted to take a pikky but was worried about the flash although they have there eyes closed I some times worry if human babys will have problems in later life with flashes going off all the time on their young eyes we have two grandchildren off two daughters bothe two years old and they must have had a thousand pictures taken of them by now if they have to wear bottle bottoms glasses when they get older I will mot be suprised

All the same I will take some photos tomorrow and post them

Re: Belle has had 6 kittens on the bed ,HELP

I am sure everything will get easier after a week or so. Belle is probably a bit overwhelmed with 6 little ones to look after and needs your support at the moment. Usually mother cats like to move their kittens around a bit after a few days. I used to find that Sophie would suddenly get it into her head that the best place for them would be behind the sofa or under a sideboard and would pick them up and move them (a natural instinct to keep predators off their trail). When things settle down you will be able to persuade her that your nice little box is best im sure. lol! Looking forward to the pics when they are a bit bigger
