Humping still.... *face palm*

Its been over two months since Horris has been fixed. It took a month for him to get it out of his system but even still Ive catched him a few times grabbing Tidbit by the kneck while she is sleeping and looks like he getting in postion to do the deed

But I seperate them and after awhile hes fine but a week later (today) hes done it again while she was sleeping. I don think he'll get anywhere because tidbit isnt in heat and she is on her side sooo well ya know it aint gonna work I dont think you can get a hip pregnat

Tidbit will sometimespunch him in the face and turns into a huge fight.

He cant still be horny can he

because I dont want grandkids!

Re: Humping still.... *face palm*

if she is intact, i would get her spayed ASAP - intact Fs come into cycle every 21 to 28 days, from the time that days grow longer than nights, until in late fall, nights are again longer than daytime...
which is a real PITA to deal with, as Fs in heat will call, spray, roll, snarl at their buddies, scratch items as a form of advertising, and try desperately to escape. EVERY time the door opens, they may run for it! this gets really OLD...

i was ready to da*-near throttle my father, b/c we had my older-sisters Siamese living with us - she went into + out of heat 4 times in just over 3-mos, yowling at 3-am, pounding down the stairs screeching, rolling all over the floor calling, waking me up by jumping on me in the middle of the night, and ThAT will scare the $#%@! outta U, let me tell ya, having a crying lump with claws JUMP on U in the dark!!, jaysus, my heart about jumped outta my throat, yipes...

anyway, i would GLADLY have paid for her desex!
it was awful, and she finally leaped OUT a second-story window THRU the closed SCREEN, to go and meet her paramour - she had FOUR litters of SIX kittens, all by the same M-cat, over a 4-year period. :---(/ that is TWO DOZEN lookalike brown tabbies, all with rich ticked brown-tabby + sharp black stripes, lovely faces, and a differing number of white toes or short sox... the only way to tell them apart!
they all had buff tummies, too. *sigh*

i would cheerfully have desexed him, too, if i had ever seen him or found out who owned him - but this was in the 1960s in a rural farming county. Heaven knows how far she went to find her darling, yeesh... (eye roll)
get her spayed - she will live longer, and no daring leaps from windows or sprints out of doors!

cheers,
--- terry

Thanks Leashforlife

I know all about having a female in heat as thats what happened with Decker so Ive been through it already and she was fixed as soon as we could get her.

All I'm confused about is why Horris is trying to still get his grove on, could it just be habit to him?

She will be getting fixed as soon as possible.

Re: Humping still.... *face palm*

I think, that although he wont be fertile anymore its likely that it takes a bit longer for the hormones to work their way out of the system.

I have a rescued dog, he was neutered at the end of June. Even now he still has the odd urge, but it is getting less and less as time goes on. When he first arrived he was humping all the time (not the other dog though - nooo, my daughters coat! ), but it is getting much better. His last episode was last week, and only for a few seconds so i'm hopeful that he just doesnt feel like it anymore. Maybe its taking longer because he was used as a stud in the past, so he "knows" what to do, but either way his manly urges are lessening.

Sorry I cant help with a specfic cat scenario. All my cats are female, apart from any foster kittens, and long term foster boy kittens go to another fosterer.

Hope that helps x

He might never lose the urge, and still feel the need to act out if he sense her hormones. He will know long before you when a call is imminent.

Re: Humping still.... *face palm*

I have a 5 year old neutered male- he was neutered at 6 months- fine.
2 years ago he suddenly decided that if any of my girls were in call the only gentlemanly thing to do was to oblige them
He grabs them by the scruff and gets his leg over- then he usually gets a thump for his pains
My neutered ex-stud cat never took any interest in the girls once he'd been done- no accounting for taste

Re: Humping still.... *face palm*

Heard some people say it's nice their neuter humps the calling girls - calms the girls down a bit! Certainly Lily's breeders have a neuter (who has in interest in the girls at all) and the calling queens keep flinging themselves down in front of him.

One of my boys, neutered 6 years ago, never used as a stud, will show a calling girl a good time. He just refuses to accept the fact his gun has no bullets

I hope he doesnt try to oblige her shes a baby

She has gotten a little tarty with him though, can cats have silent heats ?

Beside I think if the whole cat population depended on Horris reproducing, we'd be doomed lol.

His tactics seem to be standing at the other end of the room talking and then charging at them, trying to mount them, get smacked in the face and then runs away screaming He's even tempted to mount their head!
