I breed siamese and orientals and they should ideally put on between 10-14 grms a day, not sure for bigger boned breeds. That said any gain is positive. I wouldn't worry too much if they loose a little bit one day or stay the same, but if they do that for more than a day then it could be a warning sign something is possibly not quite right and I would just keep an eye on that kitten just incase.
If they all look visibly bigger then it sounds as though they are doing great ![]() |

I weigh ours once a day, at the same time each day. It's not uncommon for babies to lose weight within the first 24 hours, particularly if the milk isn't through properly but they should all be gaining by Day 2. Approximately 10 grams a day is adequate
There are a lot of breeders who don't weigh every day. I only do it for my own peace of mind ![]() |
