Kittens Arriving

I'm so excited, the little stray cat we have went into labour this morning and so far has had 3 beautiful kittens, she is still contracting so think another is on the way.

First one born at 9am, 2nd 10.30 and the 3rd at 11.30. All little torties so far, Mum is grey / white.

I was in the middle of building her another box at the top of the landing when she appeared and climbed in it and started to have them. Box is nowhere finished and not really suitable for leaving them in. Should I move her to the other one later on this evening? She has slept in it a few times so it will smell of her.

So proud she wanted me with her and needed a bit of reassurance for the first one but is being the perfect Mum.

Thanks,

Lynsey

Re: Kittens Arriving

Congratulations. Glad the little ones have arrived safely and that your girl is being such a good mum.

As for the kitten box, I think if her current bedding is acceptable to her, let her be. If the bedding is soiled, then of course you may like to swap over.

Queens would be inclined to move their babies in the wild if it smelt too enticing for predators.

Re: Kittens Arriving

Congrats new mum! I would leave the bedding and everything for the first two days for kits and mum to bond. Mucky yes, but put a new clean bed down after two days. Is she being a good mum?

Re: Kittens Arriving

She had the 4th one just after 12. What a good mum she is being, got them all cleaned up beautifully and they are all feeding nicely. Had to wipe No2 nose when it arrived as she was too busy licking its other end and it was choking a little.

Its amazing to watch. Have attached pics.
