Standard practice seems to be to test for FIV and FELV. Personally I rather doubt (having read up on it all) that it's strictly necessary as long as the stud has been vaccinated against FELV, but such is the practice, and obviously if the queen owner wants the stud tested then the stud owner has the right to expect the queen to be tested too. Another common practice is to accept a negative FELV test followed immediately by vaccination against FELV, but not simply vaccination (vaccination does not mean that the cat is FELV negative to start with). A few breeders who are lucky enough to have a household that is zero titre for coronavirus also insist on zero titre queens only. Testing on the stud is not done every time a queen visits but typically once a quarter. How you run that in with showing, if the vet decides to clip hair to take the blood sample, is a very interesting question given the paranoia about ringworm.
Having said all that, my information is not as up to date as some will be, it is a long time since I sent a girl out to stud.
