Hi Sayuri,

Apparently kittens can start to purr as early as two days old. It's basically automatic as soon as they start suckling. It might be very inaudible at first but instead of hearing it, you can feel the vibrations in their little bodies

Re: Some advice please (be nice!)

Ok! So all kits are purring (how cute!) Hurrah! A couple of them have gooey eyes, but keeping them clean using slightly warm water and cotton buds (if that is bad then please please tell me!) Will advertise to re home when they reach 8 weeks and are eating well, which by the looks of things wont be a problem.

I am planning on keeping the one little girl, Attila (the Hun) or Tilly for short she will be a good farm cat. What injections are needed and when? Are they absolutely necessary for her health? And can anyone give me a rough estimation of the cost of the jabs? AND do I NEED to have the others vaccinated or anything at all for when I re home them?

Im actually planning on letting them go for free, except one, Hiro, who has long fur and fantastic markings... I will see what I can get for him. Apparently (according to my neighbor who sells kittens quite a lot) in Sweden people will pay easily 800SEK which is about £75 for a pretty kitten with long fur. Crazy, but if I can get that then I can use it when I take Tilly to be sterilized.

Anyway, if anyone has any more advice, especially with the gooey eyes and injections it would be much appreciated And again, I will add pics when I have had the computer fixed!

Alice

Re: Some advice please (be nice!)

one of my kittens had a gooey eye and the vets said that it was because mum was cleaning their bums then cleaning their faces straight after, i got some drops off them and put them in 2 times aday and it went away after 2-3 days. As for jabs mine had 2, 1 at 9 weeks and 1 at 12 weeks, it cost about £20 for each injection. You could advertise your kitties on pets4homes, its free to do and like you said the money from the kittens could go to getting tilly spayed.
Good luck with your kittens, cant wait to see pics

Any cats that go outside ought to have the vaccinations really as they will come into contact with other animals and cats whilst out and about.

I have had kittens purr from 3-4 weeks of age when they have had cuddles with me. They also purr from an early age when feeding from mum

Re: Some advice please (be nice!)

I thought that was the case, I have been keeping them inside, and they have chosen to stay in one room so thats good. I dont even bother putting them back in their box now, they are out and about the house all the time! Thanks for the info about the eyes and jabs. I will definitely take Tilly to get her jabs when the other kits have been re homed. Will that pets4homes thing work in Sweden? (Thats where I am) As for the eyes, I will keep a close watch on it and if they get very bad then I will go and get some drops for them, at the moment it seems ok. Excellent. Well if I think of anymore stupid questions then I know where to come! I will be near a working computer over the next few days so will see if I can put some pics up! Thanks everyone! xxx
