Re: breeding yourself into a corner

I had to re home one girl and believe me it was so hard to do
I did it for the sake of the girl she would not be happy with the other girls who are very hormonal,
The girl I'm talking about was most definitely top cat! when she was neutered she dropped way down in the pecking order
She has now got a wonderful home with no other cats just a lovely lady who devotes all her time to her and is extremely happy
So for this reason I know I did the right thing by a girl I love dearly

Not recommended unless you have vast amounts of space and money. I had the space but not the money. Ended up in a terrible mess.

I guess if I do it again I will have to rehome. The only way I could do that would be to tell myself right at the start that I was only going to keep this cat for a certain amount of time. Also I wouldn't want to do it with a cat I had bought in, unless the breeder was well aware of my plans and happy with them. Breeders expect their kittens to go to permanent homes and rightly so.

Oh? I sign contracts when I buy a queen to say that I will have her spayed before I rehome her. Perhaps this is a Bengal thing, but most breeders expect their queens to be rehomed.
