Question Breeding

Hiya

I have always been interested on why people breed specific pedigree's of cats.

What got everyone (who does breed cats ) involved in doing it?

I love hearing about the kittens, and it is great seeing them grow up through the pictures.I really appreciate you all sharing the pictures with us all, it is so sweet to see them all.

xx

(i hope i have worded the question right, i am not good with words sometimes, but it is something i have always wanted to ask )

If anyone is able to reply i would really appreciate it

Re: Breeding

i started breeding because i love kittens and not allowed to keep getting cats, so i thought if i get some queens i could then start breeding have kittens but at 13 weeks would go to new homes.

i have always loved siamese so this was always gonna be the type of cat i would breed.

Re: Breeding

i breed because i love the breed and i know it will make me feel complete and proud to hear how my little babys have done in shows and how they have made ppls lives complete.

Tia is a beautiful example of her breed and i just know her kittens will be too.

Also for the reason i love cats and i cant have loads, and to know ive brough these babys up the best possible way i can before they go to their forever homes makes me feel warm inside...

Re: Breeding

My reason is a bit of a mixture of both the above - I love having kittens around but can't keep themall as cats - also I have a great interest in breeding the best example of t he breed and showing it. I don't have any show quality yet- but will do. Minnii is such a lovely character cat and so beautiful to look at I also want to share that with others.

Re: Breeding

I chose my breed because initially for me it was love at first sight.

My aim for breeding is to produce high quality kittens so that I can participate in my other hobby of exhibiting, and also to ensure the continuation of a breed that unfortunately has a fairly small gene pool.

Re: Breeding

I absolutely fell head over heels for the breed - they're not really like any other cat I've met before. I also have a real fascination for genetics, and I wanted to breed my own show cat. It's nice showing someone elses, but there is something so special about showing your own. I also love having the kittens around, and seeing them as they grow up. It's lovely having kittens running around. Once their eyes open they have real personalities. I have one at the moment who will sit in my hand and just gaze at me as I chat to her, with her little ears twitching occasionally . I think she wants to stay.

I get to see a lot of the kittens I bred at least once a year 'in the fur', which is so lovely - but can be such a shock when that cute little bundle of fluff that you last saw at 13 weeks is all of a sudden a 14 month old Adult!

I've also had one appear on an advert on TV (for all of 2 seconds, tops!), but the buzz I got from that was fantastic. I was such a proud Mewmmy. I didn't even know he was on TV until the owner emailed me to let me know!
