Anyone early neutering?

Has anyone found a vet willing to do this? Or did you have to persuade them?
What age would they do it at? thanks

Re: Anyone early neutering?

I haven't actually taken any of my cats in for early neutering, but yes my vet has told me he will do it.
Personally we'll take our boys in at twelve weeks and our girls in at fifteen weeks.
He said he could do the girls younger than that, but it's so invasive I would be happier to let them get a bit older.
He also said that if they were much younger, whilst he's willing to do it, it is possible that he wouldn't be able to find the womb as it would be tiny.

That sounds odd now I think about it! Perhaps I've got that last bit wrong.

Thanks for the reply, i feel it is the only way to protect our babies from future problems. Contracts just don't work.

Re: Anyone early neutering?

No. If a BYB is determined to get hold of a pet for breeding then they'll sign any old bit of paper.

We'll be early neutering our Savannahs to try to stop the spread of BYBs with these cats.

Re: Anyone early neutering?

It might be a case of too little too late for some breeds. I don't know about the prevalence of BYBs with Ragdolls.. I know Maine Coons have a huge BYB problem at the moment. (
