should i sepeerate them ?

Hi, my little cat is getting ready to have her littleuns. Her abdo has dropped, she is producing milk and she has had some discharge. My question is, should I seperate her from our male cat. He is very affectionate so I don't foresee any problems, but I just don't know. I think they would be more distressed if I seperated them. What do you think ?

Re: should i sepeerate them ?

Try separating them but so they can still see each other and see how she is,some queens will accept another cat present at birth but because their natural instincts usually kick in they like to be somewhere quiet and private with their "midwife-you",also though he is affectionate with her,he may be different with kitts around, he could become jealous that her attention will be on her babies and react accordinglyGood luck and hope all goes well for her and her kitts

Re: should i sepeerate them ?

Hi,
When one of my queens had her first litter, my neutered boy at to be with her while she gave birth, it was her choice and she would not settle with out him until she had all her kittens. Then i got her settled down in the kittening quarters. Just bear in mind that if you allow them to be together, watch that the other cat doe`s not get in the way and the kittens dont get squashed. Especially when left unsupervised.
