Feedback

Hello. I am hoping for some feedback - education really. Let me start by saying: I have fostered pregnant cats/litters before so this was not my fist experience presiding at a cat birth....BUT I have a cat - she gave birth to 4 kits late Sat nite / EARLY sunday morning. THe first two were stillborn, second 2 alive...but faded and both passed on after 6 & 8 hrs of life.

Momma went about her day yesterday, being talkative, but fine.

I awoke this morning to two more dead kits.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why this could be? I only, thru this research learned a cat could have two gestationally different pregnancies at the same time (superfetation) The kittens were very skinny and heads bigger than bodies......

Can a cat - or will she - abort if a tom mate w/ her late in pregnancy? (as there are many toms in the area....just checking) AND YES she is scheduled for Fix.

Re: Feedback

I don't think mating in pregnancy can make a cat abort but it does sound as if they were premature. Do you know how many days gone she was?

Re: Feedback

it could also be a blood group incompatibility - if mum was B and mated an A this could happen.
