Help Again ASAP Please

For those who don't know our cat Daisie had 4 kitten last thusrday. She had them in the nest since as has been the perfect Mum. However today she moved them to my daughters cupboard and keeps running down to nest and looking and them running up again.

Just now she brought one down stairs dropped it and then picked it up and took it back to the cupboard. The problem is she is not very gentle carrying them.

She is still feeding them by the way.

The kittens are looking healthy and have at nearly doubled in weight already.

Re: Help Again ASAP Please

aaaahh the moving house syndrome - lol Some mothers tend to like moving their babies after a few days. When my queen Zoe did this, I was new to breeding too. If you change her bedding and make sure she knows she is safe where you have placed her, that it is reasonably quiet (vacuuming and washing machine excluded) no through traffic, passers by kept to a minimum for the time being - the time will come when they will mix with everyone, when they are more mobile. Just give your queen lots of reassurance and check that she is not showing you something about a particular kitten. If they all look well, are suckling and the queen is healthy, then just pop the baby back in the nest with the others. Its surprising how well babies cope with being carried by a rather "rough" mum.

Re: Help Again ASAP Please

I remember Tabitha moving her kittens behind a chair in the room I use to see clients (I am a counsellor/hypnotherapist) - NOT a good place for them to be.

I wanted them in my spare room so I made up three separate nests there and put the kittens in one. She moved them to another but seemed quite happy with that.

Tabitha seemed incredibly rough in the way that she picked them up but all five turned out to be happy, healthy little snuggle muffins who will be a year old at the end of May.

Enjoy your time with the kittens -they grow so fast

Thank you. She has now brought them back to the nest but keeps going back to the cupboard and meowing. It's like she is looking for another. She really doesn't now what to do with herself. We are getting pretty worried now!

Re: Help Again ASAP Please

lol mine did the same, she put them all in a box with all of my things in (I left it in the corner of the room didnt have time to move it)

and I walked in and was like 'ermm where are all the kits?!?!'
she was just staring at me like 'what kits?!'

lol I put them all in their crate, mum loves it as she can get to them but they cant get out so she has the room to herself

Re: Help Again ASAP Please

Yep sheba is a house mover too. I hav 3 nests set up in my bedroom now and 2 in the spare room. However none of these obviousmy met her approval this morning as she moved them into a box i was filling with junk for a charity shop! GRRR - they are now settled again in one of the nests - but she really is a proper house mover!
