Re: what is breeding for you

Furthering the breed you love so much, Weeks & months going through studs that compliment your girl and will bring out the best qualitys in kittens.
Finding great homes. Being able to show your own homebred lines with my name on it (thats always been a dream of mine)

Day one of kittens life teaching & learning them along side their mum.
Being able to suffer the heartache if one porr baby doesnt make it, or if they all dont & when they go to new homes when you have spent all that time getting to know there personailtys.

Health tests, making sure everyone is healthy and in perfect condition all the time.

Bringing joy to others life when you see how excited they get about your kittens & helping them with Every little thing even if you do answer & have to type the same question over and over again!

Being on the end of the phone at 1am when a new owner needs help!

Spending all your time and money on the things you love most, your babies!

Maybe more but I cant think right now

Well for me, its a hobby and a way to share with others the joy of owning a pedigree siamese. It has its ups and downs - the downside is when babies struggle, the upside is when you see them suckling happily, thriving, playing and when others come to visit and share in this joy too.

I shall stop here cos I could go on for pages and pages ...

Re: what is breeding for you

For me its about adding to breeds that I adore and that have been a part of most of my life. The aim being to breed healthy, well socialised, character full babies that fit beautifully into the family they choose, but who also meet the SOP for the breed, with that something extra. The last bits are the icing on the cake, but the rest a must. I am interested in genetics and like choosing the right lines to go together. I love looking after the babies, but the worst bit is finding new homes, no one is ever good enough and the responsibilty of finding that purrfect home for a cherished baby weighs heavy.
