Re: Help, need advice xx

At 4 weeks they are not viable. IMO it would be better to terminate the pregnancy now while they are still non viable and give 3 or 4 kittens that are already here the chance of a home.

Again, JMHO.

I don't think it is cruel to spay her, when you see a queen struggling to feed a large litter and the weight she loses.

Cats can reabsorb kittens very late into the pregnancy and kittens are not viable if born even 6 days early. As a breeder you can't see or feel the kits moving before 7 weeks so cat pregnancy really does not compare to human pregnancy, I don't know about dogs. In cats it is only around 25 - 28 days that they change from embryos to foetus', so they are still very far from being kittens.

I would tell your daughter that you are taking her for another Vet to double check if she is pregnant, I'm sure like cats dogs have early days where you are not sure if they are or aren't pregnant so I'm sure it'll ring true for her.

I am not in any way an abortion advocate, but your girl still has a long way to go to a safe delivery so you should not feel guilty. I breed and I feel guilt every time a girl goes into labour. And as you believed her to be spayed it's not your fault she is in this situation.

Re: Help, need advice xx

Personally I feel that it really is up to you - Make a list of pros and cons for both and maybe that will help you to decide

I have done both options in my time - My baby wispa came to me as a boy from a rescue centre - to be fair she does have an "odd" bit - but thats another story - obviously as s/HE got bigger I let him out - then he got fat and odd acting and went to the vet. Vet told me he was pregnant!!
She stayed at the vets and was spayed - she obviously had an abnormality and was also small - I followed the vets advice - I don't regret it

On the other hand my lovely Luna has just given birth to 3 gorgeous kittens but these were planned and prepared for.

It really is up to you all others can do is advise you of the options

What a decision to make. My heart said 'ahhh kittens' but my head said otherwise. It has to be your choice but whatever you decide don't feel guilty, by asking for help it shows you care

I think I would say have her spayed.
