Hi all

Yuki's sibling went for their first vaccinations, at 8 weeks, last Monday. I asked my Vet if we should vaccinate Yuki at the same time or when he is bigger, She said he will be fine to vaccinate with his siblings as it depends on age, not size...
It didn't feel right to me, so I opted not to vaccinate him yet.
I want to know, when do you guys think I should vaccinate him?
He is 9 weeks now and weighs only 280g, he is otherwise healthy.

He is amazingly small and I understand your dilemma. I don't think he's ever going to grow much so you do really need to vaccinate him sometime soon. Maternal antibodies are wearing off and he will be at risk if not vaccinated. That's what the vet means by it being age related rather than to do with weight. Have to say I don't envy you the decision. I'd go by general health, appetite etc. It's not right to vaccinate a sick kitten but if he's generally healthy other than the deformity and size then I think I'd risk it.

I'm just so nervous that the vacs will make him sick, he certainly can't afford being ill and not eating. I'm so scared of losing him, he has come so far! But then again not vaccinating him I'm also risking him getting sick, though he is in a healthy, clean environment....
He is healthy, eats good, though he has not gained any weight in about 10 days...

Better vaccinate when his maternal antibodies are still strong enough to help him. He may be sick for a day or so, but, harsh as i may sound, if he doesn't survive vaccination, he will not survive life without vaccs either.
