North West Siamese is on a distinguished road
Pedigree verification

Hi
Can anyone help me?It has been brought to my attention that a number of my pedigree's have incorrect information. All my girls and boys came with pedigrees and GCCF registrations, but some of the pedigree's have been hand written and photocopied so the reproduction is not that clear.
I have emailed a number of breeders where I could obtain their details from various sites, but either those details are incorrect too or they are unwilling to help!
I am asking for this help because I want to ensure new slaves of my kittens have the correct information. I do not want to use the info for any underhand purposes.
My pedigrees are displayed on my web site (minus the reg numbers) but I really would like to clarify that a) I have the correct family tree and b) the correct gccf numbers.

Many thanks in advance

Michele

Re: Pedigree verification

You could try Pawpeds - or get a certified copy of the pedigree from GCCF but there will be a cost involved.

Re: Pedigree verification

The GCCF is probably the easiest way to go as they will have the research done for you, whereas on Pawpeds you will have to do it all.

Re: Pedigree verification

We recently took on an adult Persian, she is beautiful but her pedigree paper is appauling, we have her registration paper too.
The pedigree is handwritten, loads of crossings out and both halves of her pedigree is the same. It is either totally wrong or her parents are brother and sister.
I wouldn't have liked to think i had bought her for a few hundred pounds as a kitten with papers like that but as it was we wanted to give a stunning young lady a forever home and wasn't bothered about paperwork.
I wouldn't have even dare show it anyone if I had been the breeder, but someone must have been happy with it when buying her as a kitten...I certainly wouldn't.
I know not all breeders have computers but they need to be good at handwriting and not write like Drs, they need to know how to spell and be literate at least.
All ours are done on computer, we always aim to do things the best we can do.

Re: Pedigree verification

Handwritten pedigrees were rather like Chinese whispers, alas. I have some laden with errors. If you want to be certain, your only option is a GCCF certified pedigree for each parent.

Re: Pedigree verification

I love some of my old, handwritten pedigrees. They may well be a work of (unintended) fiction but there is a charm about them. In all honesty I can't say I've noticed a huge improvement in accuracy because of computers. Legibility yes but accuracy - not so sure.
