Baby is season again

Hi, I have a 6 month old colourpoint persian female, had her 1st season christmas eve, and today she is in season again.
Yes she is reg GCCF active and i'm reg with a prefix too.
She is way too young to breed i know, but also aren't you not ment to let her call for more than 3 times.
Just hoping she will stop for a few months.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Re: Baby is season again

yes she is too young to breed.. our blue point raggy came on call at 4 months old.. then called every 2 weeks or so.. it got annoying.. but we kept with her till she was 12month old..and mated her.

got her spayed after she had 1 litter as she kept calling 1 week on 1 week off.. she was looking really tired and ragged.. so we had to have her done.

it wont harm if you leave her a couple of calls longer than the three..

Re: Baby is season again

Rosie started calling early - her breeder's advice was to let her call 5 times or until she was a year old which ever was first. She was mated successfully at 11 months - kittens due mid February

Re: Baby is season again

You could always ask your vet about Ovarid (it stops the calls) BUT . . . I've heard stories about queens on it that then struggle to become fertile once off it BUT these are purely hearsay so worth looking into.

Re: Baby is season again

I don't think Ovarid is advisable for maiden queens but still worth asking a vet's advice

Re: Baby n is season again

In the mean time I would try and mimic the season by keeping her in a dark, cool room once the sun goes down - or at least being aware that light and warmth will bring her into call. Mine always call over Christmas as the heating is on more and lights are on in all the rooms - blooming children.

I thought that but wondered if sometimes needs must.

you didnt have to wait until 12months of age, 10months would have been fine and she would have given birth at 12months, otherwise she could have been seriously ill, it can also go down the lines so if you kept a girly from her she may have the same situation.

6months, so you possibly have another 4 months to wait, are her calls seriously big proper calls or just little tiny ones? if its tiny ones then dont worry if its big ones then try as they said keep house cool, what colour is is??

Re: Baby is season again

Lisa, try and minimise the time your boy spends in the house, as this will be aggravating her into call as well, either that or bring him in and give her a lot of time in his run in the evenings. It's dark and cold outside then, and that should knock her off for a bit.
