ok I dont know what a banana box is! So I like to recomend these, I use them, nice and cosy with a top makes mums feel more surcue

4 might be too much, take out the shredded paper, mums like to dig it will go everywhere and get covered in blood - hard to change quickly - done it myself, wish I never! just pop to sainsburys buy a bed sheet and cut it into pieces and a towel, we also buy blankets, we put the towel at the bottom NOT the top as kittens claws get caught! then layer the sheets then blanket then sheet! = soft and warm = diggable!

As mum gives birth you can remove a sheet if its very dirty leaving a cleaner once underneath, OR if you have 2 of these set up (sometimes I do) keep them the same, mum gives birth in one make it dirty, you quickly move her and kittens into the new one, mum will still have blood on her and bleed so need to change the next day, so keep LOTS of sheets handy and wash everyday on a 90degree wash

day 72 is 2 days overdue...why does he think that? IVe had a girl go to day 71 before obviously keep a eye on mum make sure kittens are moving (2 maybe easier to feel than5 that are packed in tight!)

what day was she mated? Yes its like dogs, litter of 1-2 are Alot harder than 5 as the kittens are alot bigger!! My british girl had 4 on her first litter, and nearly needed a c-section, the babies were bloody massive, I mean I thought they were ready to walk!! One of them at day 2, managed to crawl across the lounge floor!!! after crawling out of the birthing box to follow mums smell...now that was one bloody strong kitty!!!

my god it was a awful birth and one kitten sadly passed was on the phone to the vets, just one of those things , I was going to neuter her but spoke to other breeders/vets and she had her 2nd litter last year, a litter of 5 with ease, all 5 giant babies now lol!

On gthe other scale big litters of 7-8 can be awful to with small babies, so litter of 4-5 are nice sizes

thanks - for that - am VERY urgently re-arranging boxes - Luna has been crying this morning at bedroom door - very distressed wanting out - so let her (big mistake I now know) she walked into living room and has lay down in middle of the room and is now "tensing" - legs keep going ridged - hmmm think something hapeening - lady bit looks large too - gonna try to encouage her to move into one of the boxes - not ideal - but hey - will have to work with it - think she wants the company

Hope things are going well there and you maybe have some kittens by now?
I use banana type boxes too - towels, vet bed and puppy pads in them :thumbup1 I agree with TB though, shredded newspaper is messy and not easy to change. I have one in the bottom of my wardrobe and one in the bottom level of a chest of drawers (take the bottom drawer out so the box is on the floor) in my son's former bedroom (he no longer lives at home so it makes a good kitten room)
My eldest girl doesn't like to be left on her own. It's quite common for them to want someone with them and a good idea too so that you can intervene if necessary.

TB - a banana box is a long flat box with sides higher at each end - pick them up free from greengrocers and throw them away afterwards In my case the shelf above in the wardrobe or the next drawer up make it nice and cosy but there's plenty of room to see what's going on.

Thedeans - dont try and move mum if she is happy laying on the floor leave her be & put sheets down, my british girl doesnt like birthing boxes or boxes, she gives birth whereever she goes...and expects me to then pick them up sort the plcenta out clean them and keep them warm until she is finished... One cheeky sod she is lol! But if That makes her happy and thats how she does it then we do it like that, she gets too hot aswell, I made a few boxes for her all different types, she likes to dig but give birth outside of them lol!
