Re: Mother Cat Help

I'm afraid if you took all the babies away at once you have only yourself to blame. She will be full of milk and very uncomfortable, and she has no kittens to feed and is wondering where they are. Breeders try to space out the days when the kittens leave, and ours aren't allowed to leave until 13 weeks anyway by which time the milk is drying up.

I don't think there's a lot you can do now except leave her to lose her milk and hope she doesn't end up with mastitis.

Liz

Re: Mother Cat Help

Again agree with what the others have said,to help dry her milk up cut down on her wet food, and her water in take just for a couple of days, when i say cut her water in take just give her enough that she won't dehydrate and keep a very close eye on her,it could be the start of infection and yes her teats will be sore but i'd watch her as if it is the start of an infection she will go down hill very quickly and it could ultimately be fatal for herThe fact that she isn't allowing you near her tummy and her behavior would suggest something is wrong,if your not sure take her to the vet for a check up
