Why does my cat seem to attack her 5 wk kittens?

Please help, a couple of times i have seen my cat play quite roughly with her kittens. Is this normal? She grabs and bites them (she doesnt pierce the skin or leave any marks) but the kittens dont seem too bothered and dont cry. It does seem very rough though. Should i leave her to it, maybe she is telling them off for something??? Or should i seperate it? please advise. Thank you

As I understand it, this is all normal. She is teaching them and disciplining them and although it does look rough to us, the kittens are not going to be harmed by it.

it's normal - all part of the learning and socialising process so they know how to behave..

Re: Why does my cat seem to attack her 5 wk kittens?

She will not only discipline them for behaviour or tiolet training issues but also weaning

It is perfectly normal and it gets worse between weeks 5 and 7 as Mum starts to naturally wean the Kittens away from herself and teach them independance.

She will start to moan and groan, and hiss as she trys to repell her kittens to eat for themselves and not rely as heavily on her for milk.
