Hey, my cat Ninja got spayed after she had her first litter. Recently Ninja has gained a lot of weight but only around her midsection and she is being very protective of her belly. She sleeps a lot and isn't eating much. She is acting pretty much the same as she did the first time she was pregnant! Could she possibly be pregnant? Is spaying 100%?

Get in touch with the vet who carried out the spay. It is unlikely that it was not done completely but occasionally some tissue is left. This usually only leads to a cat calling again. I don't know if she could become pregnant. She may just have put on some weight after the spay because she won't be using up so much energy in calling.

I'm going to phone the vet tomorrow. Its out of hours right now. We are going to hopefully bring her in to be checked out. Hopefully shes not pregnant though because we already have a pregnant cat in the house, 2 would just be insane!

Why do you already have a pregnant cat? Why wasnt that one spayed :S

Anyway, whilst spays can leave behind tissue which can lead to calling and associated cancers etc, it is unlikely to leave behind a whole womb which is needed for pregnancy...

No chance at all unless the vet made a huge mistake which is highly unlikely. I'm afraid the more likely scenario by far is that your cat has fluid in her abdomen. You certainly need to see a vet.
