Re: Hi newbie advice please

well firstly she really shouldn't be outside.... if she has blood this could be a sign that she has already given birth (plus you said she was meowing alot) another sign of labour etc. I would seriously get her to the vet asap so she can get checked over and when she is back home KEEP HER IN! She may well have had the kittens out doors somewhere the chance of their survival outside is very slim especially with the weather turning to autumn now! I'm not experienced in cat breeding by any means.... But as you have seen cat birth before surely you should know these things that she needs to stay in have a box to retreat to, litter tray and food on tap!

Re: Hi newbie advice please

I hope this is a joke post cos this is ridiculous.

You cat should have been spayed at 6 months.

Your pregnant cat should not be outside.

This is all insanely neglectful of your cat.

Get her inside and keep her inside until she has her kittens and can be spayed.

Re: Hi newbie advice please

Umm jeez you ask a genuine question and get abuse great forum this is! Thanks! Yes she is indoors and as I have said she has seen a vet and I phoned the vet to say it's normal. Yes thank you I am well aware to get a nesting box and food and water that is common sense. How dare you accuse me of neglect who do you think you are!!!! As for having her spayed it was my CHOICE to let her have kittens I have plenty of family homes for them, this is a cat breeding forum so I don't think those comments are usefully needed, I can't believe the abuse I got. My cat is not neglected but very much loved and well looked after thank you just ask my vet, jeez I didn't know I had to justify myself!!!

Re: Hi newbie advice please

I have no experience with cats whatso ever BUT, it seems you've done everything right so far...the vets in the know. I'd keep an eye on her, keep her in, in the warm.
Best of luck

Oh and welcome to petforums!

Re: Hi newbie advice please

Thank you Bassettsandbeyond! Yep keeping a very close eye on her, my other cats had their kittens 12 years ago and since then I've had 3 children and going through childbirth I think I'm just on tenterhooks with my cat! Lol thank you again xx

Re: Hi newbie advice please

Blood in my experience means she has had the kittens. Hasn't she changed shape? If not I would be suspecting a miscarriage - a yellow discharge could be pus which would mean dead kittens inside but if your vet actually examined her then that would have been picked up I am sure.

Re: Hi newbie advice please

Nobody has accused you of neglect It is sometimes hard to assess how much knowledge people have from just 1 post and some people come to forums with no knowledge what so ever. I appologise if you took offence to my post, i was just concerned as to what you had written. I hope everything goes well for your Cat.

Re: Hi newbie advice please

you've let your cat out unneutered to have a 'planned litter'.... with 'any' Tom cat is that a responsible cat owner? Do you know if the Tom had any illnesses or diseases like FIV. If she's been out in your garden can you be sure she hasn't given birth under a hedge etc?
You said your 'well aware to get a nest box' have you got it set up, has she been into it etc?

***
Im not a breeder but from joining this site I've learnt about the high number of moggies in rescue centres, and poorly bred litters where the kittens aren't wormed or vaccinated and rehomed from 6-8 weeks!
Alot of people strongly disagree with moggie breeding for the above reasons!

Lots of good helpful advice about.

Hope your moggy has a safe delivery & best of luck with your litter

Re: Hi newbie advice please

No sorry missmoomoo the poster after you said I was being neglectful, I don't see the problem with Moggies having kittens?!!! Jeez I didn't want preaching about having my cat neutered so please no more comments about her, the blood is like bloody discharge just like the mucous plug but a tiny amount. Yes the box is set up she goes to it blah blah *rolls eyes* all I wanted to know is is she likely to be delivering her kittens soon! Why all the upset and preaching?!!! So unless you have useful info about labour then please keep it to yourself I disagree it is neglectful to allow my cat to have kittens no she hasn't changed shape I can still feel them moving etc! Please don't patronise me.
