'Rescuing' a kitten tomorrow

My girlfriends sister got a kitten a few weeks ago (she wanted one from me originally but i fobbed her off etc), a little b&w male, semi longcoated.

As predicated when i was on FB earlier i saw the status: "kitten for sale, £30". My heart sank.

Now i have nothing personal against this woman, except for the men she goes through like socks, or all the cigarettes she smokes, and alcohol she drinks. She was complaining that the kitten was 'going for' her baby son and had to be shut into the kitchen all the time as he wouldn't 'settle'.

Anyway, guess who snapped him up?

Picking him up tomorrow morning. Poor lad hasn't been vaccinated, wormed or anything so i'll pop him into the vets to be checked over and have his 1st vacc this week.

He can't stay but i had to get him away from there, and i'll make sure he's looked after and gets a good home to go to.

My OH has been giving me the evil eye all evening...

Re: 'Rescuing' a kitten tomorrow

Oh tell me about it!!

Makes me furious, i told her ages ago not to get one (she had a dog a while back too that she 'got rid of')!!

Looking forward to bringing him home, although it is going to be difficult with the others! I will see how it goes!!

Will post pics tomorrow. I'm praying i don't get too attached to him, i know i can't keep him!!

Re: 'Rescuing' a kitten tomorrow

Don't say that lol!! OH isn't happy! I was hoping to keep one from Socks' litter (just got his head around that) this year so realistically can't keep him even if i wanted to!

I'd rather see him rehomed to a loving home than keep him knowing i have reached my 'space limit' and made all my cats unhappy and insecure.

Pics tomorrow...

Re: 'Rescuing' a kitten tomorrow

This is kind of why I got rid of Facebook a long time ago. At first it was OK. I remember it 7 years ago when it first came out but then as time has gone on more and more stupid people joined and more and more people friended me and more and more people posted rubbish on their walls that would annoy me...

So the deactivate my account button got hit.. About 6 months ago.. Not looked back since and I really haven't missed it at all.

Good on you for taking it in though.

EDIT: I just re-read all of that and realised I sound like a miserable old arse!!! I'm not though, honest .

Re: 'Rescuing' a kitten tomorrow

Well, the little man has been here for a few hours and has settled in straight away!!

He is in my bedroom with everything he needs and is very very playful an friendly indeed! He is purring away and loves a cuddle.

We got all the 'nasties' out of the way right away so his nails have been trimmed, his teeth and eyes look healthy, he's been weighed (2.5kg), and wormed, and he's had a warm bath (he was a bit greasy and scruffy). I've also checked and he's defo a boy

Going to the vet tomorrow to have his first vacc, and have him checked over (although he looks very healthy).

Not going to comment on the flat i took him from but i'm so glad he's here, safe.

He drank a full bowl of water right away so i'm guessing he was desperate for water, and he's had 1/4 a 400g can of Smilia fish pot.

He's almost 100% black, with a little white on his right hind foot, and a spot on his lower belly, and a teeny bit under the chin. His face looks like a MC, he's a lovely boy!

He's currently drying off from his bath on my bed, on a huge piece of pink vetbed

Will take pics later once he's dry.

Now, he needs a name...
