neutering...

Just a quick question... do I have to wait till the kittens are rehomed to get Missie speyed or can it be done when they have been weaned? I just don't want to risk her coming into call again bless her, now she knows what it's all about will she be even more determined to get to a tom? I am probably worrying about nothing, but I really don't want this to happen again.

Re: neutering...

Well considering she could well feed them right up until the day they leave ... it's best to wait until then. You just have to be extra vigilant and make absolutely sure she can't get out until then

Re: neutering...

Well it varies with each cat hun. She could come back into call tomorrow, or not until a week or so after they have gone at 12 weeks. Every cat is different

Re: neutering...

ok thanks aurelia will have my beady eyes on her! She has started to come back down and mingle with the family mainly in the evenings and asking to go out!! But I think that is more for toilet purposes than anything else at the moment! considering she is young, she has been a far better mummy than i expected bless her

Re: neutering...

Lol! I have similar issue with Mishka! I have let the door open to teh room where her cupboard is and she is also mingling with my other furbabies! But everytime I go to open the door she's there!!!

Re: neutering...

yeah it is hard.... although I could probably have the door open all day and she wouldn't bother, she is definitely a night time cat, will never go out unless it is dark

Re: neutering...

Wait until the kittens are gone.

She could call any time, last time my girl called when the kittens were 7 weeks old.

Re: neutering...

Most often it's been when the kittens are 7 weeks that my girls have called too. I would have thought you can wait and see if she stops feeding them and spay then, though a good few girls will feed until the kitties leave, some don't though.

Please be ultra careful as you are right she will be desperate to get out if she does come on call before she can be spayed.
