I have been having a little look around, and it looks to me (I could be wrong) that bad pedigree breeders are tolerated here, whereas bad moggy breeders aren't tolerated at all.

One rule for one, and not the other?

Why popcorn? Has this question be asked before? I am sorry if it has, and am therefore not original.

Well, let's put it that way. Some breeders on here seem to enjoy "special" status either because they are cleverer at hiding their true breeding practices or because they are better at pulling wool over people's eyes than your bog-standard moggy breeder who comes on here with an "accidental" pregnancy. Often the fact that they have been on here for a while let's them get away with more things.

i rember reading that thread myself a good while back ive got to say im a cat owner but know very little about cat breeding even though im learning more since joining pf an your right its a horrid thread even though i dont understand the ins an outs of it

Remember, anyone can say anything on-line so who's to know what goes on behind the image of themselves and their practices they present here? On-line forums aren't a very reliable way of knowing the good from the not so good.

But to answer your question no, I don't think bad practice by breeders (whether they have a litter of moggies or are pedigree cat breeders) is tolerated well here. One or two breeders immediately spring to mind, as do the usual handful of people (myself included on some occasions) who will generally call them into question over something or other. It usually descends into argument, the thread invariably gets removed, locked or heavily edited by the mods and someone usually ends up being banned.

Ultimately, if a breeder is on this forum openly sharing with everyone some facts about how they manage their cats, their breeding practices and so on, then they obviously don't see anything wrong with the way they choose to do things.

Why should it be controversial? I think it needs asking, and put right.

A bad pedigree breeder is just as bad as bad moggy breeder. Like you say they are just crafy, and more clever about it.

When certain pedigree breeders post pics of their almost constant litters, its a blantant advert under the excuse of "just posting pics". I thought good breeders never need to advertise

Please bare in mind that I've not read the full thread or any previous threads from or about this particular member when I say that everyone is entitled to make one mistake. Mistakes are the strongest learning tools so long as the one who made the mistake is prepared to learn from it. I don't just mean about cats or dogs, I mean in all walks of life
