Re: Leukaemia; to vaccinate or not to vaccinate

my cats do not have access to the outside other than their pen except very occasionally jack one of my raggies does do out on a lead into the garden, but i only fully vaccinate my cats for a couple of years then just the cat flu and after another couple of years in stop altogether.
if your cats will be going outside then full vaccination is advisable. not sure which one it is other than looking at it.

I don't vaccinate against FeLV. I keep the vaccinations at a minimum so my cats only get the distemper and cat flu shots. All my cats are indoor cats and they're regulary tested for FIV and FeLV.

Re: Leukaemia; to vaccinate or not to vaccinate

I don't vaccinate my kittens against Leukemia but advise new owners to have them done if they are going to be outside cats. Mai Tai is tested before going to stud and Rosie has been vaccinated by her breeder - neither of them go out.

Hi there, and thank you all! So the general concensus is that it's Ok to have it done as long as care is taken. My vet uses Purevax. Has anyone experienced this brand, and what are your thoughts on it?

I have only good experiences with Purevax. I've never used Purevax RCP FeLV, but my cats have done well on Purevax RCP. Purevax RCP FeLV doesn't contain any adjuvant (regarding the earlier discussion on mixing MLVs with adjuvant).

Re: Leukaemia; to vaccinate or not to vaccinate

I give my kittens all that are to vac. for. I have done so for years. The last kitten I bought lacked some of it. The sideeffects was too bad and the kitten might get a bad reaction. I say what is worse for the cat a bad reaction or to be ill becouse it has not been vac.

Kittens went for their vacs this week and i have the tricat and lukeimia. We where talking about chlamydia vaccinations the vet was telling me that there seems to be an idea that the oily vaccines are causing sarcomas

any ideas?
