GCCF Approved Breeders Scheme

This little gem is buried in the Background and FAQ's for the GCCF IT Refresh Project document.
http://www.gccfcats.org/pdf/ITrefreshproject.pdf
I assume it will be similar to the Kennel Club's Accredited Breeders Scheme so will mean breeders premises will be visited. Along with the benefits to breeders of online registration and payment it would give kitten buyers a list of checked and approved breeders so can't come soon enough for me

Re: GCCF Approved Breeders Scheme

Well done for finding that, it was really interesting and filled in a lot of gaps in my knowledge, thank you for posting the link. It all sounds like a great improvement on the present system, mind you even a word document form for registrations would be an improvement as my writing is very scruffy.

Now if you could just give me a clue where my odd socks all go that would be great, and I think the US still need a hand in locating some weapons of mass destruction.

I'm fairly sure socks are in league with teaspoons - which also disappear in my house. They have secret knowledge of a time/space portal and warp off to some great party.

This should not be confused with the black hole which is created when children grow into teenagers and the gravitational force of their bedrooms sucks in all mugs, plates etc.

Re: GCCF Approved Breeders Scheme

It's mostly fairly dry stuff about the new computer systems but does mention that online registrations will be possible, online payment brought in and a little nugget at point 6c which says for breeders - An Approved Breeders Scheme .....

It doesn't give any more detail but I'm living in hope breeders can't be 'approved' without some form of on site checks.

Re: GCCF Approved Breeders Scheme

I would copy and paste the key areas but I can't seem to on my computer. Basically the document details of the GCCF's planned IT upgrade and all the additional features that the GCCF would like to make available once the new system is up and running. I've attached a print screen image for you to see of the bit about the breeders scheme.

I'm personally looking forward to it. If the GCCF can streamline services such as registrations and transfers, then it will allow for more focus on other matters which require attention.

I'd be interested to see if they plan on using a model such as the KC model. Would it be only prefixed breeders, or breeders who use administrative prefixes? What sort of checks and costs would be involved? Or will it just be open to all applicants....

Who knows? There's no other information given. I can only imagine they are using the KC model as a basic building block for the scheme.

I'll make a guess it will be prefix holders only because the GCCF make money from prefix applications. Having a proper scheme though will stop people buying a prefix in order to advertise themselves as 'registered breeders'. I hope it will not be possible for anyone to gain Approved Breeder status until they have registered a minimum number of litters - so there's something to approve.
