I think the GCCF make more money, per litter, from non prefixed litters. The difference is that they are not getting the initial prefix application fee up front. If the breeder is following the same rules and procedures but just doesn't have a prefix name, that seems a little unfair.

Also, if they do go with the minimum number of litters suggestion (which seems a reasonable guess to me), I'd be interested to see what that minimum would be. You can be an excellent breeder with 1 queen and only one litter per year. Again seems a little unfair that you'd have to wait longer to be approved than a not so ethical breeder with 5 queens who has a litter from each queen every 8 months...

We'll just have to wait and see. It'll be a fair old while before anything's implemented I'm sure... Thanks for pointing it out Havoc. Was an interesting read.

Re: GCCF Approved Breeders Scheme

I don't mind if the minimum number of litters is one, just so long as a breeder has to show they know how to adhere to a set of standards. Anyone can talk the talk .........................

Re: GCCF Approved Breeders Scheme

Very interesting indeed. I guess we will just have to wait for further developments on this. I'll bet a lot of the other things will take precedence over an approved breeder scheme though
