DLH in an litter of DSH's, with DSH parents and grandmothers?

Landy has decided to be different apparently! Obviously I don't know if either of his granddads were DLH's but it seems strange that he should be a DLH when the rest are DSH's. Anyone want to explain to me? I COULD Google but where is the fun in that?

Its a recessive gene, same as blue eyes if I remember GCSE biology correctly, so both of your cats would have to be carrying the long haired recessive gene and he got two copies. He could just be fluffy though or be a DMH.

Longhair is a recessive gene. In theory it can be carried for ever.

simple really, both parents carry the long hair gene.

not much else to add! she will prob be a semi long hair as the only true long long hairs are persians.

if the queen goes out and only if she goes out, isnt it possible that she could also mated with a dlh as well as a dsh

She's an indoor kitty that got pregnant by our boy due to repeated delays in spaying/neutering so we know who the dad is

Have you decided whether you are keeping them all out of interest? Last time I was on the forum you were looking at possibly rehoming a couple

Aye we are definitely keeping them now, just need to find a bigger place sooner than later to be fair on them. I would have worried about them constantly if they were gone, at least this way I know they have a forever home and won't be in a shelter 2 years from now. I'm sure there will be plenty of times where I kick myself for it but like I said, they're my responsibility
