Idiot!

Someone on P4H is advertising a 6 week old black kitten as a Burmese. I mailed politely and said that Burmese did not come in black and asked why she thought the kitten was Burmese. She replied with a picture from wikipedia showing two American Burmese one of which was very dark brown and she took it to be black. She told me to visit any website that deals with cat breeds (so presumably I would then realise her kitten is Burmese)

I did reply describing the action of the Cb gene and pointing out that a pedigree kitten has two pedigree parents.

I reported the ad but it is still there. I hope that is simply because my complaint has not yet been seen. Asking £250 for a 6 week old black moggy when you have been told that it cannot possibly be Burmese is nothing short of dishonest. Though I suppose if anyone is daft enough to buy it then they probably desrve what they get.

Re: Idiot!

The only credit I can give to the woman who was looking to get rid of William at 4 weeks is the fact that she didn't try to pass him off as anything other than a ginger moggy. Although two of his three siblings were blue and she was trying to sell them as BSH's (pretending they were from a different litter than William and his black sibling of course).

Completely ridiculous and makes me very angry. Good for you emailing her Lizward, folk like that need to know that some people can see right through them!

what an idiot and of corse I bet she knows best maybe she isn't being dishonest, maybe she is just so stupid that she actually believes her moggy gave birth to a burmese kitten and maybe next time her moggy will give birth to a ragdoll

Re: Idiot!

Wow! It's not even a passing reference to Burmese! She's used the term Burmese 4 times and refers to the breed as if she is a long term Burmese breeder! Cheeky cow

Re: Idiot!

By the same token, I have a Tonkinese, a Burmese and a Norwegian Forest all looking for new homes. The Norwegian Forest could be used for breeding bringing in large amounts of money and the Burmese would make an excellent stud of the preloved unregistered variety. Papers? What are they? You didn't think I bred Norwegian Forests? Well, she looks like a Norwegian Forest doesn't she? OK her Mum is a Tiffanie and her Dad is half Burmese but so what? The Tonkinese is a bit small for breeding (though the buyers would be unlikely to worry too much about that little detail) but hey perhaps she would pass for six weeks rather than 14 weeks, in fact I'm sure she would.

Re: Idiot!

I can think of a better word for them than Idiot, but seeing as profanities are not allowed in here then i wont say it.
The annoying part is they will prob sell their kittens, so who is the Idiot then , the buyer or the seller??
I wish that those in search of a kitten would do a little more homework and research before they part with their hard earned cash........best wishes..........Chris

Re: Idiot!

The Sale of Goods Act doesn't in the main apply to private sales EXCEPT for misrepresentation. The goods MUST be as described. If anyone is selling kittens as pedigrees they'd better be able to show some proof - it's one of the reasons for registering kittens. That registration slip is the only acceptable independent proof. Without it Trading Standards could be very interested if a customer complained.
