Angry Re: Idiot!

There's also someone supposedly selling "the most titled Scottish Fold in the UK" at 4 years old for only £200...because she needs to cut down on the number of cats she has

Re: Idiot!

Oh I just despair at those sites. Preloved regularly has pedigrees with no papers at silly prices, the other week a "very rare" all ginger female kitten (moggy) for £250!!!!! and there is someone local to me who regularly advertises "British SH x Selkirk Rex" kittens - er, as BSH are an acceptable outcross to the SR that is actually a Selkirk Rex! Unregistered of course. Maybe I should ring up and go and look at those one day - though better not, I'd end up with more cats and no money just to save them :-(

You didn't think I bred Norwegian Forests? Well, she looks like a Norwegian Forest doesn't she? OK her Mum is a Tiffanie and her Dad is half Burmese but so what? The Tonkinese is a bit small for breeding (though the buyers would be unlikely to worry too much about that little detail) but hey perhaps she would pass for six weeks rather than 14 weeks, in fact I'm sure she would.

This is normal practice. The alternative is that breeders either give up completely, continue breeding but never ever keep a kitten, or end up with so many cats that the council gets involved and probably the RSPCA too.

I think that advert is actually a legitimate advert for a breeder trying to reduce her numbers. The cat is fully registered and the owner would allow a show home if suitable. Very different to someone advertising a cute moggy as a pedigree....

Have to agree, that's how we ended up with lovely His Majesty Storm! His purchase price was half of what she is selling the fold for, she just wanted a token fee really to weed out the bad'uns

She told me to visit any website that deals with cat breeds (so presumably I would then realise her kitten is Burmese)

I did reply describing the action of the Cb gene and pointing out that a pedigree kitten has two pedigree parents.

I reported the ad but it is still there. I hope that is simply because my complaint has not yet been seen. Asking £250 for a 6 week old black moggy when you have been told that it cannot possibly be Burmese is nothing short of dishonest. Though I suppose if anyone is daft enough to buy it then they probably desrve what they get.

Well done you!
