C-Sections

If a cat had a C section for the last litter - does that means her chances are high that she will need one again with future litters?

Re: C-Sections

I do know of cats that have gone on and had kittens fine the next time. Think it depends on why they had to have the
c-section

Re: C-Sections

Never had to have one yet, touching everything wooden in sight!!!, but have to agree with Selks as they can be required for so many different reasons

Re: C-Sections

Hmmm its just that my girl Ginny is pregnant and she had to have a section last time - and wondered if it was something i needed to look out for if chances were high that it could be a repeat performance.
She had 10½ babies but only 3 survivors

I have tried to get hold of her breeder the last few days but i know she is really busy - and anyway it only just occurred to me the other day to even think about it

Re: C-Sections

Ahhh, bless her, wow 10 thats a lot poor lass. If it's because the birth canal is too small, then chances are she would need another. A friend of ours had to have cats c-sectioned because they were very overdue, so most likely they won't need one next time.

She has had 3 litters before that tho Selks without any probs - so it cant be the birth canal.
Maybe it was just cos she was overdue??

Anyway i will let you know once i get hold of her breeder

Re: C-Sections

Yes, that's right it would depend on why she needed a c section. I had a girl who needed one with her first litter but it was because she didn't dilate quick enough, she had her second litter normally.

Re: C-Sections

Hopefully it was just a bit of a fluke needing the C-section and all will go smoothly next time.

Re: C-Sections

Personally if a girl of mine needed a section I wouldn't breed from her again just incase. But that is just me.
