Smile Can you help if you're expecting kittens this year!

Is your Queen having a litter of kittens this year?

If so, please consider taking part in an exciting new study being conducted by The University of Lincoln into kitten development.
The results of the study will help provide much needed detailed and relevant information to increase knowledge of the mechanisms which underpin feline behaviour.
The study will involve participants to record basic stages of kitten development (such as the kittens weight and times at which certain events occur, e.g. eyes opening), and will only take a few minutes each day to complete.
Your Queen doesn't need to be a specific breed or a certain age.

If you would like to take part in this important study then please contact me!

Thank you

Theats a shame!!

I have just got this project up and running, hopefully I may get a few volunteers to help me with my request...

I currently have my own feline mum who gave birth three weeks ago - she is a foster cat, extremely friendly so am hoping the kittens will adopt her personality!

It might be worth your study monitoring the differences in breeds as well, as I breed Siamese and Bengals and there is significant differences in their development.

Our Siamese Kittens learn to use their litter trays earlier than do Our Bengal Kittens, The Bengal eyes tend to open quicker than do my Siamese. Our Bengals learn to eat solids quicker than Our Siamese as they tend to be more greedy ha ha

Fabulous, thank you.

Thank you for your suggestion, I think it should be interesting!

I do have a document specifically designed for the study, would it be possible for me to send this to you when you are ready to have another litter?

Rach

Do you particularly want data from kittens born this year? I, like many breeders, record the basic data you've mentioned for all litters. Depends what else you want to know of course, I may not have recorded other things you want to know.

I will hopefully have a litter later in the year - just waiting for my queen to come into call, next week if she goes to her usual cycle, and then we will be off to stud. I'd be happy to help with your study.

re: Can you help if you're expecting kittens this year!

Thank you

I have designed a document to allow for the dates for different stages of development to be recorded, such as when the eyes start to open, are fully open, teeth erupt. In addition to behavioural elements such as initialisation of play, using the litter tray etc.

I also am just asking to record the weight of each kitten every week.

I hoping to have the same data for every kitten within the study to enable me to compare them statistically - hopefully providing some interesting results!

If you have that kind of data that great, but am hoping to collect data into 2012 - so if you are thinking of breeding again then I would really appreciate your help and can send you out a kitten development form
