Breeding queen

Hi

I am a first time breeder and wondered what was the ideal weight of a breeding queen.

My girl is 3.5kg at 11 months. She looks a little small to me but that could be because her brother is now 4.6kg.

I wouldn't want to breed from her if she is considered to be too small.

Re: Breeding queen

Weights vary according to the breed of course. What breed is she?

Re: Breeding queen

She is a Tonkinese.

My mentor thinks she is an okay size. I just wanted an independant view of it really. She has had 3 calls (first 2 when she was 5 and 7 months old). She is now 11 months old and just finished her 3rd call.

I've been busy preparing the kitten room and collecting all the things i'll need and those i hope i won't need!

Well that sounds OK to me. I'd say go for it.

Re: Breeding queen

I have a 2 1/2 year old Siamese girl who is only just above that weight and she is fine throughout pregnancy and delivery
Wishing you luck breeding your Tonk

I agree, weight seems within a normal range (it can vary depending on size and breed) but does not sound under or over weight, age is good, had good series of Calls.

You sound prepared, have a mentor, Go for it

Good Luck
