Have taken in a abandoned cat who is pregnant

New here and after a bit of advice.

Long story short, our neighbours moved a few weeks ago and left behind their cat not nice, didn't know the neighbours as they kept to themselves so no one knows where they moved too.
Anyway my wife and I took this lovely moggie girl in and got her to the vet end of last week for a general MOT. She is in good health but the vet discovered she is pregnant and probably has around 2-3 weeks to go. So for now she is an indoor cat, not that she seems to mind and won't be going out now till after the kittens are born and weaned and she can be spayed.

Anyway my query is that we've been adding kitten food into her diet {seen on here that its good for them} but she seems to be just mostly be eating the jelly or gravy rather than the meat ? when we first took her in she loved her meat but now not so much. We have tried leaving out the kitten food and just giving her the adult food and again she just licks at the jelly or gravy ? She is eating dry food ok though.
Is this normal and more importantly is she going to be getting what she needs from just the dry food and the little bit of what she is eating meat wise.

Sounds as though she prefers the dry and is not hungry enough to eat the kitten food. If you are feeding a good quality dry food I wouldn't worry too much, but hopefully someone who knows more will be along

Thank you.
I just found it strange that she had been eating the meat fine but now only wants the jelly/gravy part of the meat ?

Maybe the tastiest part?

Probably when she arrived she was so hungry and less "fussy"

Eating just the jelly / gravy is incredibly common!

I'm sure the cat will be fine, good on you for taking her in, and we'll all be here for you when the time comes for the birth.

true loads of cats do this as the meat can go dry, we add a bit of water to it so it socks it up and keeps it moist!

Id feed a good quality kitten food, what are you feeding now? and not feed anything in gravy, just a nice quality high food and maybe some chicken...

Phew I feel better now, we just want to make sure we do the best that we can for her.
We've got her on whiskas kitten food but if chicken is good for pregnant cats then I'm more than happy to do that for her.
Any particular way of cooking it for her ?
