Re: What questions do you ask??

Start off with "Hello, this is (your name), who is speaking?" and take it from there - like a chat on the phone. Most people are very happy to tell you all about themselves and love talking about the subject they rang you about.

If the person who rang enquiring about kittens is not comfortable on the phone, you may like to guide it with one or two open questions that requires more than "Yes" or "No" answers. Leave plenty of spaces/silences to give the person a chance to breath, gather thoughts, relax etc.

Yes, you want to be sure that the babies find the right homes but, no it should not feel like an inquisition or interrogation session.

Sometimes I just let them call again if they wish.

Re: What questions do you ask??

I have a list of things I like to know, but I never ask direct questions. If you just get people chatting, especially about cats they have had in the past, they tell you far more than if you ask them something outright.

Re: What questions do you ask??

I don't have specific questions. I just wanna talk to them and see them interact with my cats. Basically just get to know them. Often I find myself answering loads of questions from the prospective kitten buyers and that's usually a good thing. It shows they're interested.

Re: What questions do you ask??

Yes, indeed, Cerridwen - you can tell quite a bit from the sort of questions people ask of the breeder.

I do same Audrey Also a key one for me would be to slip in 'what would you do if your kitten wanted to go outside?'

Re: What questions do you ask??

If you decide by what you've heard during the conversation that they are not suitable for a kitten, how do you let them know?
