Problem breeding from Queen

Hi All
Just wanted to run this past all of you and get your views. I currently am trying to breed from my Bengal Snow. She is 18 months of age and perfectly healthy. The problem I have is when she comes in to heat, it is not a strong calling. She is never interested enough to let the male cat near her. She gets along with the male no problems but won't let him mate with her.
When she was 8 months or so, she had what I would say where strong callings. She would call and display and be very eager to mate, she was just to young. Now she shows no interest at all.
Also I discussed this problem with my vet who suggested we try an injection to bring on a stronger calling, we did this but did not work, she still shows no interest.

I was wondering if anyone else has seen this in a breeding queen and if so what advice would you give.

Thanks.

Re: Problem breeding from Queen

Sometimes they need a little help.

This can be a change of environment (ie mine don't like doing it outside).

One of my girls never had strong calls so we had to help them out a little bit by tickling the back of her legs so help her pad more and get more "in the mood" so to speak.

It can be very hands on, perhaps the male you are using isn't aggressive enough ?

Re: Problem breeding from Queen

how old is she now?

Some queens dont call much in winter, so perhaps thats what your experiencing. She is calling but not strongly enough to accept a mate.

I would consider using a different stud next time incase this boy is a bit of a "pansy" with her.

Re: Problem breeding from Queen

The male is a proven male and he has been sucessfully mated with many queens. He is eager to mate but she won't let him.

Re: Problem breeding from Queen

Hiya I breed bengals and i have had the same thing with 2 queens now, one is just over 2 and we have given up and spayed her, stud was Very experienced, also tried a more laid back stud but nothing.

My other girl stayed the studs so she would be there when she came into her call and finally after 5 months she was mated.

Can you leave her at the stud so the boys knows?

If not she may just not want to mate, sad I know as we lost a exceptional F5 girl and she is spayed now.

who did you buy her from? whats her prefix/breeding?

Re: Problem breeding from Queen

She has been to stud a number of times and stayed for a month or so. I'm hoping to try again early next year. I hope it doesn't come to the point were we have to give up on her, she is such a beautiful cat with champion status and she is still only young.
Her prefix is Draco, the breeder has many Bengals and has been breeding a long time.
The stud she visited is from another breeder and I have checked the pedigree as to make sure they don't have the same breeding's.

Re: Problem breeding from Queen

There's not really much I can do except fingers crossed, nature's a strange thing.
As billyboysmammy suggested some queens don't call much in winter so I'm hoping come spring things change. I will keep her with the stud as long as possible next time.
Thanks for the replies

Re: Problem breeding from Queen

hiya well winter isnt really until jan time and you said you have already tried? Ive also had another bengal who didnt mate, they are a funny little breed lol!
have you spoke to the stud owner (who are you using?) about keeping her from when she stays so she can come into season there so he can be with her at that moment? My girl goes out of call in the car and the stud (top guy) kept her for us no extra charge for about 12weeks so she can into call there instead of her coming into call getting in the car getting there and she stops

All my cats have actually stopped calling now so it could be due to the weather, although I have lights on and heating etc

is it your first ben litter? i remember mine was sooo excited! she had 8!!
