DNA results
Let's try not to let this thread degenerate into a lot of nastiness, hey, there's a first time for everything
![]() I thought some would like to know that I have finally got the DNA results back and alas both litters were sired by Danny - this despite the fact that I saw Basil mating with Katie! Katie is confirmed as the mother of the one I orignally thought was Fiona's because I got the two kittens mixed up. Now, before you all start on your condemnation trips, let those who are wise take lessons from this. I saw Katie mate with Basil. Had I not got the two kittens mixed up so that I convinced myself the longhaired one was Katie's (which would mean he could not have been sired by Basil), I would have happily registered him as Basil's, the more so because in temperament he is very much like Basil (Basil has this peculiar mannerism of rolling around all over the place as soon as any human comes near him, it causes a lot of comments at shows because people think he must be a calling female - until they see the evidence that he is a boy - and this kitten does exactly the same thing). Moral - if there is any room for any doubt at all, get a test done, especially if there is any question of the kitten being bred from (as this one would have been, had he been Basil's). They are beautiful babies (well, almost adolescents now, the tests have taken so long) and will make their new people very happy: tiffle 11 weeks 4.jpg bruce 10 weeks.jpg bluebell 8 weeks.jpg gary 8 weeks.jpg In fact what I didn't tell you was that after I realised Basil was not the father of Fiona's kittens, I got so paranoid that I had two younger litters tested just to check they were Basil's, even though they were all shorthairs and all had coat colours and patterns I would expect from Basil. It was theoretically possible, though statistically very unlikely, that they might have been Danny's if he had access to the two girls concerned, and although I was fairly sure in my own memory that the girls had been out in pens all the time, I had not actually written that down. Yes, I have learned something, I need to write everything down in future because what is a clear memory now may not be as clear in nine weeks time. Those two litters that should have been Basil's are indeed Basil's: every kitten has been tested, including the ones that there was no question of anyone breeding from. Responsibility to new owners is something I take very seriously. Liz |

Re: DNA results
Not unless I want to add a 3/4 pedigree to my collection. Unfortunately I would have quite some difficulty justifying that even to myself let alone my husband - these don't fit with my outcross programme. Let's just say I wouldn't be too heartbroken if no-one wanted Tiffle, but somehow I suspect she'll be the first to go.

Re: DNA results
Sorry the results weren't what you would have liked but they are gorgeous little cats and no doubt will be snapped up by new owners very quickly. At least you know now who is whose
