Pregnant Siamese Question 2 and 3

Having posted my previous thread 10 days ago I can now confirm my girl is 4 weeks and 3 days pregnant.

Can anyone please tell me -

When she gives birth should I not allow my 7 month old girl ( not related ) near her and the kittens. At the moment they are best of friends, if I separate them at the birthing time when can they be together again?

Secondly, I have tried for the past 3 days introducing a small amount of wet kitten food into her main feed, but she is not interested in it at all. Will eat dry kitten food no problem.

Thank you all, any replys would be welcome.

Re: Pregnant Siamese Question 2 and 3

If it were me id be letting mum and babys have some quiet time on their own when they are born , you dont know how she will react to yuour other girl coming near them or how your other girl will react to the new kittens .

My girl wont eat wet cat food of any kind and only licks the jelly or gravy of it , ive even tried her with the pate type foods and no luck , she is eating dry kitten as much as she wants its always down and she is also getting chicken breast 3 times a day and she loves that lol

I'm guessing Sharon meant to say applaws heehee
You could try different types but if she won't eat it don't worry too much as long as she's eating plenty of dry, and has loads of fresh water available to her

I personally would not split them up if they are the best of friends. If your girl doesn't want her pal around when she's giving birth or looking after her kittens she will soon let her know. I would provide a box, crate or other "private" area for her to get some peace. If she does get annoyed with having her around just separate them, and don't leave them unsupervised for the first week or so.

Re: Pregnant Siamese Question 2 and 3

Ummm if your daughter is 7 months old I personally would keep her right away from your cat when she gives birth. She's far to young to understand how to handle new born kittens.

Also having a dry only diet isn't really in your Queen's best interests. Have you thought about trying RAW minces? We give our girls DAF minces (http://www.daf-petfood.co.uk/wb/pages/distribution.php a list of dates and areas they distribute, though there are other areas covered) and they not only adore it, but they are in fantastic condition because of it. It has everything you need in the mince except taurine, but you can add that yourself without much fuss.

Yeah ... how did I miss the '(not related)' bit on the first or second glance? I blame my pills
