Advice needed - BSH kitten without papers

Hi,

I am wanting some advice please. I bought a bsh kitten 'Olly' without any papers from a lady who owned both parents which were registered but she said she hadn't got round to changing them into her name and therefore couldn't register any of the kittens. I got the impression she just wanted to make some easy money and thought breeding cats would be a way to do so as she admitted herself that it wasn't at all what she expected or as easy as she thought it was going to be and therefore was selling the two female adult cats and the stud cat along with the two litters of kittens she had bred.

She has now sold both Olly's parents to a lady who breeds them for a living. I was wondering is there anyway I would be able to get papers for Olly from this lady, I know she didn't bred him but she now owns both his parents and knows the lady she bought them from bred Olly.

I am guessing the answer is no, but I just wanted to make sure.

Thanks!

Re: Advice needed - BSH kitten without papers

It depends on two things: 1. whether or not the kittens are actually registerable (ie. both parents were on the active register and the male has his entirety certificate) and 2. whether or not the person who now owns the parents is able and willing to give you the necessary paperwork - pedigrees and a mating certificate.

The only way you'll find out is to ask.

Liz

Re: Advice needed - BSH kitten without papers

As Liz said, do you really need the papers if his apet anyway? I mean you did buy him knowing that the lady didnt bother regging them, would ahve took her all of 5 mins to post a letter!

They might not even be reg, do you know the people who have them now?

If she never put them in her name would they go back to the peoples whose names are on the pink slip before that? how confusing!

Glad she give up!! some people dont get the amount of work/money it taAkes!

Re: Advice needed - BSH kitten without papers

Thank you, especially Liz. I will ask the people who own them now, just didn't want to be asking something ridiculous and that couldn't be done.

I don't NEED the papers hence why I bought him in the first place, but have justed recently started to look into showing & obviously need them for that, but if I can't get them then it doesn't matter at all to me, just wanted some expert advice, as I don't have much experience. I own another bsh who has papers but I don't think he would be suited to showing as he is easily scared by noises & not keen on people he doesn't know.

Thanks again.

You could always show him as a 'Ped-Pet'? You dont need any papers for that

Re: Advice needed - BSH kitten without papers

The chances of being able to register your kitten now are almost impossible i would say but as stated by Wendy you can always enter him/her into the pedigree pet section, all GCCF sanctioned shows run this class and im sure you would enjoy it just as much, should you need any advice on showing then please dont hesitate to ask, we are always willing to help, good luck...........CHRIS.

Re: Advice needed - BSH kitten without papers

Thanks everyone for your help. Have found out that the lady who owned his mum and dad changed her mind and decided to have his mum spayed and his dad castrated & sold them as pets, which is a shame as they both were stunning cats, especially the his dad.

I will definitely look into the ped-pet classes. Thanks Chris I will probably need advice as the only knowledge I have with showing is with horses not cats!
