Mating Question

I am trying to mate my queen to my tom right now (this is a first for me). Both are experienced. She's delivered one healthy litter, and he's sired two (the last was conceived 5 months ago). She's calling and posturing and showing all the signs of heat, and he's following her around like a lost puppy. Every time he tries to mount her, she flops over onto her side. Is this because she's in the proestrus phase and not the estrus phase yet, or is something else wrong. She is not the first cat that I have known to show this behaviour, and I'm stumped.

We attempted to breed her on her last cycle, without success.

I don't know what (if anything) I can do, or what the problem could be. They are both in great health.

Any suggestions or explanations would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Mating Question

You've got what's known as a 'roller'. Some studs are quite adept at dealing with rollers and some aren't.
