Feeding pregnant queen

How much would you be feeding her from week 6 onwards .

She has got dry kitten food down all the time and is having chicken first thing in the morning and again about 6 pm but everytime we go into the kitchen she is crying for food .

She will NOT eat wet cat food , all she does is lick of the jelly or gravy and leave the meat , ive tried giving her a pate type cat food and she turns her nose up at it , hence the chicken twice a day .

Re: Feeding pregnant queen

Have you tried things like Applaws or Tescos Finest which has shredded chicken if she won't eat wet food with gravy or jelly?

Re: Feeding pregnant queen

As much as she wants. When my girl was pregnant we just made sure there was always food down.

Have you thought about trying some of the minces out there? I use DAF minces and my lot love it. They have much more enthusiasm for it that 'cat food'. If your girl likes chicken, it's a safe bet she'll like them too

Re: Feeding pregnant queen

Believe me we have tried every wet cat food we can find and now have a cupboard full of stuff she wont eat , only lick the gravy or jelly off lol .

She is eating the dry kitten thats down all the time but she is crying for other food everytime we go in the kitchen . Im not bothered about the expence its costing for the fresh chicken fillets for her im just asking how many meals would everyone else provide for a queen from 6 weeks into the pregnancy .

Re: Feeding pregnant queen

DAF minces aren't a wet cat food per say. It's RAW food hun ... have a look here:

Today's the day we begin the switch over to RAW feeding! Post 22 shows a picture of the minces.

Re: Feeding pregnant queen

During her last pregnancy all Mai Tai would eat was Natures Menu beef She hasn't been quite so fussy this time but I give her as much as she wants, around a tetra pack of Bozita a day plus James Wellbeloved ocean fish biscuits.

I have had kittens who would not eat the meat, just licked the gravy/jelly off of it. Mostly I get around this by just mashing it well with a fork... but that one litter of kittens could still lick the jelly/gravy off. So.... every morning I used to get a few pouches of wet food and pour them all into the blender and give it a quick blast. That way they either eat everything of the cat food, or nothing. Might be worth a try for your girl ?

I too have used this technique prior to getting them to eat raw,I have also made kitten milkshakes by adding highlife kitten milk to the blender too, I once used the smoothy maker, wife was not impressed had to by a new one, so I now have one just for me

In relation too the other question,I give my pregnant Queens as much as they want when they want it,Siamese are not known for being greedy cats,(although my Seal point stud would eat and eat if you let him)so if she crying for food give it to her,you cant really over feed an expecting Mum.Better to much than to little for a pregnant queen.
