Re: Request for breeding queen

I am a complete novice at all of this but I think it is very hard to judge people sometimes and you do just have to use gut instinct. If I was ever unsure, I would just say no - there are plenty more potential cat slaves out there who will give them great homes!

I know first hand how hard it is to start breeding and getting your first lot of breeding cats in but this is why I have been as open and honest about my intentions as I can at the start and built up good relationships with (most of!!) the breeders I have managed to get coonies from. I remember making countless calls and emails to one breeder before she would even give me a definate yes but it was so worth it and I am now getting my second coonie from her next weekend

Re: Request for breeding queen

Well if she is involved in the Cat Fancy already, then she should understand the need to make the breeder feel like any kitten would have a loving caring home and be as cherished in her new home as she was in the breeders home. If this woman hasn't grasped that concept, or maybe has and can not even bother to fake it, then I think it speaks volumes about what she truely feels!

Re: Request for breeding queen

If she 'knows' a judge then surely this judge person would know breeders she could get a breeding queen off??
If she is not prepared to have a normal conversation with you then I would defo hit the delete key!!

Re: Request for breeding queen

Just because she knows a judge doesn't mean she can have a kitten for breeding, but some people have difficulty with emails, so I would tell her to phone you, I never let a kitten go without speaking to the person on the phone, you can judge them better that way and get instant answers to questions.

I would have to meet her several times also Aufrey before she took a girl home for breeding anyway. But if the email is the first point of contact, then first impressions mean a lot

Re: Request for breeding queen

Yes I agree about meeting them, but the telephone call usually is helpful in weeding people out, plus if people are coming a long way for a kitten, it's not always possible to meet them first, but I sell very few cats for breeding, and only to people I already know.

Re: Request for breeding queen

I think I would, if I was a Breeder, only sell active kittens to people I know. At least then you know what's going on with the Kitten.

Re: Request for breeding queen

I agree with Audrey about inviting the person to speak on the phone. Some people find emails difficult and possibly, the distance to travel can be an issue. However, when considering acquiring a breeding queen, then the person enquiring should be prepared to travel. Also, if during the email correspondence, this person has not troubled themselves to bother phoning but merely threatened about having friends who are judges, then I stand by what I said earlier - Saffron made the right decision.

Agreed, silly woman threatening people with a judge, she could get the judge in trouble.
