Would you advise against relocatingthe nest box?

I want to relocate the nest box with Poppy and her one kitten in it, it is in my bedroom at the moment but it is very inconvienent as it is already cramped in there, plus i'd rather the kitten was nearer to the litter tray & food etc, when the time comes for him to be weaned. It is a big walk in cupboard that I want to put them in, here's hoping it will work

Re: Would you advise against relocatingthe nest box?

So long as where you are going to move the nest to is going to be nice and cosy for the baby, draught free and the dam knows where her new nursery is - cat-mums do tend to move their babies (if you let them) anyway so it may as well be where YOU want it to be.

Are you going to be able to reach the new location quickly to assist should the baby squeal? I find that sometimes, one of my queens, might sit on a kitten by accident and immediately it yells so I have to dig around and rescue it. Or the baby might yell when it is hungry whilst it is very young so I have to pick it up and get it suckling.

How old is your little one?

Hope it all goes well and the baby

The little one is 2 weeks and 2 days old. So far he has been feeding himself and knows where the milkbar is lol but he has no-one to fight with to get there as he is an only kitty

Moving them should be fine.

if he's an only kitten he'll probably be big!

Re: Would you advise against relocatingthe nest box?

I moved my mum and kittens around several times when they were still in their nest, and Roxy did not mind at all.

They started in my bedroom (like you) mainly because Roxy choose my bed to have them on , so I figured she wanted to be close to us.
I could only manage this for a week, and then I couldn't stand all the cat food and litter tray in my bedroom anymore, so I moved them to the kitchen.

When they were about 4 weeks old we went away and my mum stayed to look after them, they were once again relocted as I wanted them in a safer place as they were starting to climb out of their nest and I was trying to make my mums life a bit easier!

When I moved them, I put Roxy in the nest with her babies and moved them all together, so she knew where they were.

Had no problems at all!
