Re: The emotional side of breeding.

My first litter left this March and I was very sad to see them all go. I worried about them, wondered if I had made the right decision in letting them go to the homes that had been decided on (one went to the Isle of Wight and I worried that she might be sea-sick), but I was fine once I'd had up-dates from their new slaves and knew that they were safe and well and being loved. I get news of them now and then and it's a lovely feeling to know that I have bred these gorgeous (well in my mind they are gorgeous) kittens and that the way they have been brought up has made them the loving, confident little cats that they are now.
So give yourself a pat on the back, and know that you have chosen fantastic homes for your babies - and there's no harm in having a little cry when they go.

Re: The emotional side of breeding.

I think if we had been in a position to breed I would have been exactly the same! We ran a small rescue many years ago and I was bad enough then homing them and thery weren't even kittens we'd bred!

We have stayed in touch with our two breeders and give them regular updates - show successes, funny moments, photos, birthdays etc, sometimes I think they must get fed up with us LOL, but I feel that as they safely raised the kittens to become our beloved pets it's the least we can do!

I can't actually express how over the moon we are that Lila is going to Hobbs & Co. I know she is going to be in very good hands.

I know it sounds awful, but I'm glad I'm not the only one to get so soppy, lol.

Re: The emotional side of breeding.

Aww i'm sure it will get easier, especially once they are not causing chaos in the house all the time and you get lovely updates but you must miss them. Mine has only had 1 so the idea of parting with him feels very hard! I would love him to go to someone I know that will take the best care of him so I can still see him! At least him going to somebody on here you will have lots of lovely updates and maybe even get to visit!
