Smile Cream Parsons Finches

Pair of parsons finches: Fudge and Pearl.

The normal colour of this species has a black bib
and features blacks and browns on the body, but
this mutation is beautifully soft.

Wow, they are beautiful!
Now, can you handle these birds or are they more of a 'ornamental' type?

Re: Cream Parsons Finches

They'll take food out of my hand quite happily, but don't like being handled that much.

They weren't hand reared, but this considered, they are very friendly, (greeting me as I come in the room, etc.) and as they're only 1 year old, they should get better with lots of attention!

Wow, very nice birds there, if i remember correctly my grandad used to breed these aswel as others, too numerous to list.

Very good names for them too, a question is though, how long do they live for? ive heard finches of most breeds are normally 5 -7 years in a well kept environment, would you consder this true?

Re: Cream Parsons Finches

5-7 years is about right but the birds in my care tend to live longer than is typical, eg. canary who reached 10.

Attached pic is of 8 year old cordon bleus, taken 6 months ago. They are now nearly white all over.
