Exclamation ernie has (had) a problemo

ok, hi everyone. thanks for actually taking a look at my thread, well anyways lets get down to buisness here...

as you all may know I have a bird named ernie, he's a cockateil and lives with 2 other parakeets. I think he's about 4, or was. he had some discharge around his eyes, and his "nostril" is like all clogged up. but only one was. he is dead now, so this problem was probably really deadly, serious, and caused him a lot of pain. I felt pretty bad, so I wanted to take him to the vet. but I emean really what could they have done to him, and I don't have the money cause I'm only 13. I hated that I already knew he was gonna die-my best friend just like a dog is a guy's best friend...but it bothers me even more that I don't even know what he had. I have been wicked 'into' birds esp. parrots since I was in 2nd grade. I am very educated on them, but I'm not a vetranarian here! so please help me figure this out, oh by the way-he had crusted around his eye, all the feathers were gone, and the nostril that was clogged was on the same side.

ernie 4/16/o4-1/28/o8 );

i think im about to move on from ernie and get another bird

should i get....

quaker parakeet

sengal parrot

another cockateil

or a blue and gold macaw-but my parents don't like big beaks...

please give me any thoughts and/or diagnoises, BUT DONT TYPE ME BACK ANYTHING JUST TO SAY "I DONT KNOW BUT I HOPE YOU FIND WHAT U WANT-BECAUSE THEN YOURE JUST WASTING MY TIME...
