cockatiels beak

my female cockatiel lookes like she has no bottom half to her beak ,she is spending all day in her food tray and does not seem to be able to eat seed,does anyone know if the bottom half grows back as does the top ,or is it time for me to say goodbye to her any help please

I'd love to help but I can't really tell you for sure. At a practical guess I would say it should grow back just the same, as the beak is made of keratin like hair and nails I can't see why not??

Just seen the date of this post, how is your cockatiel doing, I would have suggested taking her to your avian vet if she has no lower mandibal

Otherwise giving her soft foods, if she has no lower mandible she won't be able to open the seed husks

How did this happen? Was is sudden and did she have an accident.

I hope she is ok now.

Just bumping this up a bit. Any news on the beak? It didn't occur to me that the whole bottom mandible may be missing, now that would be wierd!

Maybe a picture or two would put things into perspective?

I hope the OP wasn't a single poster
